These fossil ivory cabochons, dug from the boneyards of Gambell, St Lawrence Island, AK, and handmade by one of the local Yup’ik carvers are bezel set in sterling and fine silver. The decorated dangle pays homage to traditional Yup’ik face tattooing, performed to keep evil spirits at bay, or simply for personal beautification.
